Gardens
Our garden area includes two green houses, three bird houses with quails and chickens, an aquaponics system, shiitake mushroom areas and a beautiful butterfly garden.
Coldwater Gardens supplies several local restaurants with our organically grown produce. In order to meet public demand we have established production gardens and are currently expanding our growing space. We produce thousands of pounds of our own soil and compost by collecting biomass from local restaurants to use in our productions gardens. Not only do we get great compost from the waste restaurant organics we save thousands of pounds of nutrient rich material from finding it’s way into the local landfill.
As we develop the grounds surrounding our greenhouse and aquaponics building, we hope to make the area aesthetically pleasing, open and inviting. As the public gradually finds its way out to our haven in the woods, we aim to create an outdoor area for learning, exploration and relaxation in the form of a sensorial garden. Flush with textures, scents and beautiful colors, our sensory garden will be a meandering maze of herbs, fruits and flowers. Trickling water features and a grape arbour will allow for elements of stylized design to creep in. Keeping with our mission, this unique garden will be designed and landscaped using modern permaculture methods.
Fresh From Garden: The garden is flourishing with summer vegetables and tomatoes.
Aquaponics: Our system is being set up right now. We have already fish in the tank and a few test beds growing arugula and other greens.
Mushrooms: Our shiitake mushrooms are grown on oak logs guaranteeing the best nutritional value and taste.
